ஐப்பசி மாத பௌர்ணமி பூஜையாக சிவபெருமானுக்கு அன்னாபிஷேகம் செய்யப்படுகிறது. உணவுப் பொருள்களை வீணடிக்கவோ, அலட்சியம் செய்யவே கூடாது. அது பூஜைக்கு உரியது கடவுள் போன்றது என்று உணர்த்த சிவலிங்க திருமேனியில் அன்னதினால் அலங்காரம் செய்து வழிபடுவது அன்னாபிஷேகம் ஆகும் .

Annabishegam (ablution with rice) is observed as the Pournami (full moon) pooja in the month of Aippasi for Lord Siva. Food must never be wasted nor taken for granted. It is divine and meant to be worshipped. To that end, the Shivalingam is decorated with rice on Annabishegam day.
