Sri Satha Chandi Maha Yaagam (23.03.2017 to 02.04.2017)

The annual Maha Yaagam for Sri Mariamman will be held from 23.3.2017 - 2.4.2017. This year, the Temple will be performing the all-important SRI SATHA CHANDI MAHA YAAGAM for Goddess Sri Mariamman. The Chandi Homam was described as the most significant homam for Ambal by none other than Sri Parameswaran himself, according to the Puranas.  The conduct of the Chandi Homam for Sri Ambal, involves the reciting of Sri Devi Mahatmyam.  There are 13 chapters in     the Devi Mahatmyam, containing 700 verses/slokas in praise of ambal in her forms of Sri Durga, Sri Lakshmi and Sri Saraswathy.  In each chapter, Ambal battles different Asuraas (Demons) to defeat them, bringing victory to mankind and peace and prosperity to the world.  All these are reflected in the power of the mantras and slokas that are chanted during the Chandi Homam.
The ultimate objective of performing the Chandi Homam is to bring about VICTORY and SUCCESS for everyone in many ways. This includes success in family life, a good healthy population, success in finding our suitable life partner, in our daily job and victory in whatever projects we undertake for the good of mankind and the country.
During the Chandi Homam, priests will offer various homam items ranging from sakkarai pongal, various types of fruits, soubagya dhrivyams like pattu saree, manjal and kumkumam.  All these are offered to bless families with a happy married life and good healthy children,  for those who are unmarried to be blessed with a loving spouse and to pray for the bountiful wealth for the home, the temple and the country.
